AP Capstone Diploma AP scholar with Distinction Letters of Recommendation ( Briefly describe relationships with your recommenders and estimated rating. ) I think most of my recommendation letters (counselor, debate coach, calc BC/stats teacher, researcher I worked with) were really really good. I don't want to go too in depth, but all of them knew me well and liked me as a student. Interviews Harvard - 10/10 My interviewer loved me. We had a lot of shared passions that we were able to discuss Dartmouth - 9/10 My interviewer and I didn't have much in common, but we talked in depth about medical school and he gave me a lot of praise for my dedication to science Yale - 6/10 This was my first interview, so I didn't really know what to expect. It was a bit awkward, and my answers definitely seemed rehearsed (because they were). She was also a newer interviewer though, so that was a little helpful. MIT - 7/10 My interviewer seemed to not really want to be there. We connected over cultural things though.

In the end, I had a manuscript I largely motivated myself to write, and recieved none of the hands on support the program had supposedly been built upon. In summary, I would discourage anyone from attending Columbia who didn't have specific professors they already loved or was recieving a ton of financial aid. To wit: I would also discourage anyone, ANYONE, from attending art school who has an interest in the business end. The end of highschool is a terrible time to limit your future options by selecting something so specific, particularly when they will recieve all the the relevant lessons with a much better educational culture at any business school. Art schools, aside from those with significant prestige, prepare people largely to teach at art schools, and not much else. That is, of course, just my opinion.
