Once she got the number (which from what I understand tends to the be the delaying factor here, as if you don't know it, tmo contacts att and att contacts you and its a big loop of questions) everything went through quickly and I got a text just about 10-15 minutes later letting me know my number was ported. Hope this helps anyone curious. 03-04-2013 06:37 PM Ive tried on 2 separate occasions to port from verizon to tmobile and waited several days each time with no luck. On both occasions I canceled my tmobile account and stayed with Verizon. Tmobile's customer service is a joke. 04-29-2013 03:09 PM I did it in the store idk if that makes a difference. But while thing was done in about 15 mins. Hassle free too. Sounds more like VZW isn't releasing your number for some reason. If you really want to leave, consider calling VZW to make sure that there's nothing on your account that would prevent you from porting.
Note: It might not be possible to transfer your mobile phone number between the same network provider using a PAC code. However, T-Mobile to T-Mobile number transfer can usually be done internally by contacting customer support. Keep my T-Mobile number How to get a PAC code from T-Mobile & transfer my number to T-Mobile T-Mobile customer services can be contacted by either dialing 150 from a T-Mobile SIM, or 0207 362 0200 from another phone, to request your "Port Authorisation Code" (PAC) at the same time that you give your notice of leaving TMobile. If you wish to use the ' text-to-switch ' service, simply SMS text PAC to 65075 free from your T-Mobile SIM to get your T-Mobile PAC code by text message and begin the porting process. T-Mobile will provide your PAC code (Porting Authorisation Code) either by SMS text message, via email, or over the phone if you contact them. A PAC number is valid for 30 days. If you don't use it within thirty days it will expire and you will need to request a new one.
Otherwise, I can't imagine why they would be willing to release the phone for re-activation w/o your bill being paid in-full. In summary. I'll be getting enough out of the sale of my SGS3 to cover my final bill+ETF & plunk down more than the minimum $99 down to get the HTC ONE, whenever T-MOBILE gets it........... :bebored: In the meantime, I'll be using an LG G2X. I think its because the port will close the account and when the account is closed the esn is released from it. That's almost verbatim what customer care said. I'm still surprised the ESN is clear w/a balance due. I'm not complaining, it just doesn't make sense to me, from their perspective, to clear the ESN w/a balance due. I asked if it needed to be paid immediately (including ETF) to enable the buyer to immediately activate the phone w/his number & they said no, the final bill & ETF will be on the same scheduled payment date, which is exactly a month from now, as I just paid a few days ago. Agian. I just find it odd, but, pleased nevertheless.
He, of course, has no problem with me using the number, but I'm worried it's going to be a hassle because I can't give anyone permission to allow the switch. I'm kind of attached to the number because it's easy to remember (the very nice AT&T guy a number of years ago actually helped me find an easy one! ) Plus I have elderly relatives, not to mention friends, who already know it. Is there a particular sequence in which I should do this to simplify it? I know I can't let him cancel Sprint before the number gets switched over. Having read this thread, now I'm getting a little concerned about the timing. I was hoping to get it all over with before the next Sprint bill is due since it now comes to my house and is really expensive! Oh well, not as expensive as it would have been to make a bad choice and be stuck in a 2 yr contract. 03-04-2013 03:43 PM You guys are lucky. I've been to the retail store, called cs a number of times, and chatted with them a couple times. Customer support is useless.
WAITING FOR THE PROCESS TO COMPLETE If your number is being ported from another wireless carrier, the acknowledgement and approval of the port request by the losing carrier can usually be instantaneous. That is because the FCC has required there to be automated porting systems between carriers. Hence, a wireless-to-wireless port will normally take less than 24 hours to complete, including over the weekends. However, it might take only 5-10 minutes. If your number is being ported from a landline or VOIP carrier this will normally take about 3-4 business days (not calendar days). This is because landline/VOIP carrier port-out departments do not work weekends, and their porting systems are not automated to the same degree that wireless carrier porting departments are. Your T-Mobile representative may incorrectly estimate that the port will take 24 hours or less if they are not familiar with landline/VOIP ports. Conversely, a representative may tell you that the port may take 5 days, 10 days or even 15 days.

Porting number to t-mobile - OnePlus Community Srojas, Jul 30, 2014: Hi, So I currently have a t-mobile plan on my OPO but would like to switch to the $30 plan that they have. I have heard that since I already have a t mobile number I won't be able to use that number on my new sim because it's only for new activations. Is that true? If it is, is there anyway to port my current number to the $30 plan (100 min, 5gb data, unlimited text) IWantOneNow, I have heard it is possible, but very rare. Most people had to go through hoops with customer service I know:/ I heard it's possible too but idk how they did it, that's what I need to know WJenness, The easiest way is to port it to another carrier, wait a month or so, and then port it back. Try checking other provider's websites to make sure you can port your number away from T-Mobile... Straight Talk / AT&T would be the first ones I'd check. If that doesn't work, you can always just move it to Google Voice, and get a new SIM card from T-Mobile and sign up for the $30 plan (which is what I'm on).
Back when I was with t mobile several years ago, porting my number from from att to them, took around 36 hours for me but eventually was ported. Patience is a virtue Glad I stumbled across this tting ready to jump to T-MOBILE from SPRINT & wasn't anticipating any kind of service interruptions by porting my number over. At least I'm not in the dark & wondering why, should there be any delays in service. Not knowing what is involved w/porting a number from another carrier, I'm curious as to what/why there is any delay at all...... :questionmark: Unless t mobile has changed since I've been with them, the only service interruption you'll encounter is no data connectivity until the number port is complete. Oddly sms/voice works with the number issued, just no data as well as mms. It's a matter of how long it takes your current carrier, in this case, sprint, to release your number to t mobile. So it's actually not on the new carrier, all dependant on the current carrier how long you'll wait for the port to complete.
Good luck. swiftb12305, I think you canport your number to google voice then port it back into tmobile for the $30 plan isekii, yea this was what I was gonna suggest gt5679a Ice Cream Sandwich Jul 30, 2014 gt5679a, Port to Google Voice, get new TMO number, use new number as the forwarding number? May not be ideal for you, but it let's you keep your number if that's your main concern. skyactiv skyactiv, Okay whoa. If you have T-Mobile service already, then why not just call CS and tell them to switch you to that plan? Unless you're leaving out some facts here that is a simple thing to do. I know tmobile doesn't have contracts but there are still some accounts with them I'd presume. Do you fall into that group? Cause that's about the only situation that should require you to have trouble but I know tmobile can do a post paid to prepaid migration. The $30 prepaid plan is the one plan they do not let you switch to from any other plan. yeah that's my only concern with porting my number to google voice, I just don't like the ideal of having a new number as a forwarding number.
I'm porting out my number to a new carrier, but I'm having trouble finding my account and PIN number. icon Best answer by smplyunprdctble 21 August 2018, 19:31 If you're prepaid, your account number is your phone number. If you're postpaid, your account number is on your bill in If you don't recall your PIN, you're going to have to call T-Mobile to get it reset. You might be able to do it via the chat in the T-Mobile app, I'm not certain. I just know I had to call on Friday to get a few things done and they had to reset my PIN for me when I called because I'm an idiot and had forgotten what it was. View original
